Strength training for women 35+

Feeling your best exists within reality, not perfection.

Season of Strong is for women who used to be athletes — who have been busy being everything for everyone else — and are ready to feel like themselves again.

Hi, I'm Anne Marie

I was a Division I athlete. Then I had two kids and found myself feeling lost.

My college years were spent devoted to intense, year-round training for the swim team at UCSB. After that came a decade of training other people's bodies for a living. Then my two kids came along, and my priorities understandably shifted in a way that it took me a while to even notice. Over time, I realized that I didn't feel like myself - the strong, capable athlete I used to be, that I had been for so long. I realized I really missed her.

What got me back wasn't motivation. It was creating a plan that fit the life I actually have, and actually got me the results I wanted. Shorter workouts, but with the right strategy - efficient, purposeful, meaningful. Turns out that's enough. It was always enough. But it's hard to believe unless you've done it. Unless you've lived it.

It isn't extreme, it won't rule your life, but it will make you feel at home in your body again. And it can truly be done alongside motherhood, not fighting against it. You're still the athlete you once were, this just helps you return to her.

The minimum effective dose

Doing the right few things consistently beats doing everything perfectly for three weeks and getting burned out.

  1. 01

Pick the few things that move the needle

Four days of lifting, crafted carefully, performed with purpose. Movement that brings you joy. Everything else is unnecessary excess.

  2. 02

Repeat them long enough to matter

You don't have to do everything perfectly every time, you just have to keep showing up. Progress over perfection is the focus that creates lasting, noticeable change.

  3. 03

Let strength show up everywhere else

Carrying both kids up the stairs. Keeping up on the hike. Resilience, fortitude, confidence. Your physique changes too — it's a byproduct of the work that makes you feel alive from the inside out.

Fitness is the foundation, not the destination. We train for capability first — to meet the physical demands of motherhood and beyond, and restore the strength that once made you feel like YOU. Your mind and physique will benefit too, but so will those who depend on you. Showing up for them as your best self is an incredible gift.
